New!
A unique feature of my editorial packages has always been my post-edit virtual meetings. These meetings allow authors to ask questions, get clarification, and work through suggestions with me before they start their revisions.
My authors love these meetings so much that I’ve decided to make a version available to any author who needs help for any reason. Schedule a meeting today to talk through a plot hole, debate killing a darling, or discuss anything else that’s on your mind.

Specialized Editing Services
Because of my training and experience, I specialize in fiction novels that include law enforcement characters, crime, and/or investigations.
The types of novels I typically work with include:
Police Procedurals | Crime Thrillers | Cozy Mysteries | Courtroom Dramas | Legal Thrillers | Detective Fiction | Crime Fiction | Locked-Room Mysteries | Murder Mysteries | Mystery Thrillers | Psychological Thrillers | Crime Dramas | Suspense | Romantic Suspense | Heists | Capers | Puzzle Mysteries
If you’re interested in working with me on a different type of project, let’s talk about it. Just because it isn’t listed here, doesn’t mean I won’t work on it. These are just the areas my specialized training lends itself to. You’re always welcome to schedule a free consultation to talk through the specifics of your project. I promise to be honest with you about whether I think I’m a good fit!
Accessible Editing Services
It’s no secret that editing a novel can be a very costly endeavor. A good editor is worth their weight in gold, but I believe you shouldn’t have to be wealthy in order to become a published author!
While I have many services available on my website, I am able to customize a package to fit almost any editing budget. As long as you are open and flexible, we can find a service that supports your process.
FAQs
I’m nervous you’re going to judge my story/characters/writing…
I completely understand this fear! But my job isn’t to judge you, your story, or any element of your writing. I’m here to help you develop your story and make it the best it can be. This is a safe, judgment-free zone!
Are you going to change my manuscript?
Never. I don’t make any changes directly to your manuscript. I leave comments in the margins of your manuscript offering suggestions, but it is entirely up to you whether or not you implement them. As the author, you have the final say on everything.
My law enforcement character is the bad guy in my novel. Will you still help me?
Of course! Sometimes writing police officers as the bad guys can actually be more difficult than writing them as the good guys. You may think you’re portraying them as sloppy, but it actually comes across as poorly researched. I can help you write bad, sloppy, or evil law enforcement characters that come across the page as intentional to readers.
What is the turnaround time for editing?
There is no easy or standard way to answer this question. My turnaround time depends on a lot of things, including how long your manuscript is, what type of editing you are requesting, and what your areas of concern are.
I know you are anxiously awaiting the return of your manuscript! I don’t want to hold it hostage any longer than I need to. We will discuss your timeline during our initial conversations, and I will work as quickly as I can to get your edits back to you while still being thorough and accurate.
Will you edit my document in Google Docs so I can see the edits as you do them?
I am happy to upload your document to Google Docs as soon as I’ve completed the edit. But I’ve found it’s less productive to have the author in the document at the same time as I’m working on the initial edits. I do offer a period of time where we can communicate collaboratively in Google Docs after the initial edit is complete.
Do you treat my work as confidential?
Yes! I do not share or discuss your story with anyone other than you unless you give me permission. When you hire me, I will send you a contract that outlines my confidentiality policy in detail, but basically, you can count on the fact that I will treat your work as completely confidential.
How do I know which editing service I need?
Great question! I’ve built a free guide describing all the different editing service (the ones I offer and the ones I don’t!) that you can download and review to learn more about the different types of editing before making your decision. If you’re still not sure, schedule a free consultation call with me and we can talk through your project together! I’ll help you figure out where you’re at in your process and we can discuss what service might be the best fit for you.
